Summer Reading Program Survey 2022

Please complete our anonymous survey! Your feedback will help us receive funding and support for future library events and programs and help shape future programs.

Please encourage each member of your household that registered for the program to complete the survey themselves - we want to hear everyone's voice. Parents, if needed, please help your children log their answers - we'd love to hear from them directly, in their words!

Summer Reading Program 2022
Read Beyond the Beaten Path!

June 4 - August 21 (Note: We have extended our program until August 21st!)
Come join our summer reading program and earn rewards for reading!

For children, teens & adults!
About
Why join a summer reading program? Not only is it fun, the Summer Reading Program encourages children and adults to continue reading and to develop lifelong learning skills. Children will mitigate any summer learning loss, improve reading skills and increase their desire to read.
How does the program work?
1. Create an account on our summer reading website, ReadSquared, at egpl.readsquared.com.

2. Read this summer! Log your reading on egpl.readsquared.com.
  • Children and teens log minutes read. They will get one point for each minute they read.
  • Adults log books read. They will get 100 points for each book they read.

3. Get rewarded! For every 100 points reached, you will receive a virtual badge on your home page and be entered in our weekly raffle drawings to win great prizes! Kids and teens will also be able to get the opportunity to come into our library and create their own button, featuring author and illustrator’s Dav Pilkey’s artwork! They can make a button for each level they complete and have a chance to make and collect all 8 buttons throughout the summer! Once you reach 800 points, you will complete our program and earn a completion certificate! AND after you complete level 1, you will earn a coupon for a special treat from TJ's Burriotos (while supplies last)!

Earn more points by completing missions!
Missions are optional activities that will challenge you in new ways.  For each mission you mark as complete, you will earn extra points towards your summer reading program. Thus, allowing you to earn more raffle tickets and complete the program faster!

Who can participate in our Summer Reading Program? All ages! We have a summer reading program for tots, children, teens and adults! Participants must live in East Granby, CT, or in a surrounding town.

What counts towards your reading log? Any books you read! Whether it is a new book, a book you read again, a magazine, comic book, etc.  Being read to, listening to audio books, attending storytimes and listening to storytellers count too! You pick books that interest you!

How do I register for the East Granby Library’s Summer Reading Program? Visit egpl.readsquared.com and register by filling out the requested information. Children 13 and under will require a parent’s permission. One (1) parent can have their child(ren) linked to their account. The parent can choose to keep one user name and password for the whole family or a parent can decide to give a separate user name and password to each child. Parents are automatically enrolled in the Adult Summer Reading Program. They can then choose if they would like to continue with the program.  We encourage parents to participate and be great reading role models for their children.

How do I log my summer reading? Log into egpl.readsquared.com using your user name and password. Click “Log Reading” on the dashboard and then select minutes or books.  Children and teens will log minutes (with an option to log the book title and author), adults will log books. If you are a parent with your child(ren) linked to your account, simply select the name(s) you are logging for and click “submit”.

What does the ReadSquared Website offer? This website allows you to log your reading, track your progress in the Summer Reading Program, collect digital badges, earn weekly raffle tickets to win prizes, personalize your own avatar, write and submit book reviews, complete missions, play games, and provides book reading lists and recommendations.

How long is the program? The program runs from June 4 - August 13, 2022. You will be able to still log your reading until the end of August, though our raffle drawings will have ended by August 13th.

Is there an app I can use? Yes. You can download the free ReadSquared app onto your electronic device. This app gives you the same functionalities as the ReadSquared website.

Can I get reminders to log my reading? Yes, you can opt in to receive daily reminders to log your reading via text messages! Simply log into your ReadSquared Account, select the drop-down arrow on the righthand side by “ACCOUNT”. Select “Texting Options”. Fill in the requested fields to continue.  Note message and data rates may apply.

How many times should I log my reading? You should log your reading daily or weekly.  Keep in mind the more you log, the more chances you have to earn a weekly raffle ticket.

What is this year’s theme? Read Beyond the Beaten Path. Reading books encompassing this theme is encouraged but not required. The theme will also be integrated in the East Granby Public Library’s summer programming.

How do I enter the raffles? For each 100 points you earn, you will be automatically entered in our weekly raffle. A librarian will contact you if you are a lucky winner.

Can I use the school’s summer reading paper log instead? In order to earn digital badges and weekly raffle tickets to win prizes, you must log your minutes into the ReadSquared website. This will allow our library to track your progress. In the past, Allgrove and Seymour schools have accepted our program and rewarded those that have participated. Allgrove & Seymour schools will receive your East Granby Public Library's Summer Reading records.

We hope you will join the East Granby Summer Reading Program!
